All you need to know about your menses!

If there’s one thing that every woman has a love-hate relationship with, it’s her period. You love them because no baby and you hate them because of what you get in turn- cramps, irritation, mood swings and many more wonders of being a woman. While some of us dread our period and welcome them with a designation in our lives, some struggle with them a lot. Problems like PCOS, PCOD and endometriosis are so common these days that more than 50% of women in India have irregular menstrual cycles. Menstrual disorders have now become alarmingly common.

When your period starts, in most cultures it is celebrated as the beginning of womanhood for a young girl. They celebrate you to no end but they forget to tell you about the gifts that womanhood brings especially period cramps.

Menstrual cramps are common period symptoms. They are usually prevalent in the abdominal region before, during and sometimes after periods as well. They aren’t that worrisome usually but you might need to visit a gynaecologist if your symptoms progressively worsen or if you start having severe menstrual cramps after the age of 25.

Most of the time, menstrual disorders can be described as a worse and heightened version of certain period symptoms. For example, in endometriosis your period cramps are almost deadly, to put it lightly. To recognize your problems and disorders at an early stage, it is very important to track your period and keep a check on your cycle.
